Shama Obaed appreciates China's continued support for Bangladesh's development
Bangladesh and China discuss infrastructure, energy, education and women's empowerment as bilateral cooperation expands.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam today (14 September) recalled the successful visit of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to China and expressed appreciation for China's continued support for Bangladesh's development, particularly in infrastructure development, human resources development and capacity-building.
She made the remarks when Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen paid a courtesy call on her at her office.
During the meeting, the ambassador highlighted the significant progress made in bilateral relations in recent years.

The two sides exchanged views on a wide range of areas of mutual interest and cooperation, including the Bangladesh-China-Myanmar Economic Corridor, the Chinese Economic Zone, the development of Mongla Port, the proposed 1,000-bed hospital in Rangpur, education and human resources development, people-to-people exchanges, cooperation in energy like renewables, and women's empowerment.
The ambassador also invited the state minister to visit China at a mutually convenient time, leading a delegation of women entrepreneurs from Bangladesh.
Shama Obaed warmly welcomed the invitation and expressed her appreciation for the initiative.
