‘No pharmacy allowed without licence, pharmacist’
Drug Administration DG asks pharmacy owners not to sell medicines without prescriptions from registered physicians
Major Gen Md Mahbubur Rahman, director general of the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA), has expressed firm stance against illegal pharmacies, saying, "No pharmacy will be allowed to run without licence and pharmacist."
He said this while addressing a discussion styled "Necessity and Potentials of Model Medicine Shops in Bangladesh," at a private hotel in Moulvibazar on Wednesday afternoon.
The DGDA chief urged pharmacy owners not to conduct their purchasing and selling activities without invoices.

Besides, they were asked not to sell medicines without prescriptions from registered physicians.
Noting that the physicians' samples are not for sale, he said action will be taken if any company provides sample medicines in return of expired ones.
A software has been developed with the help of Better Health in Bangladesh, Mahbub said, hoping that it will be beneficial to all.
Mamunur Rashid, additional deputy commissioner of Moulvibazar; Md Salauddin, deputy director of the DGDA; Salma Siddiqa, assistant director of Moulvibazar DGDA, among others, were present at the function presided over by Emdadul Haque Mosnu, president of Bangladesh Chemist and Druggist Samity's Moulvibazar unit.
