AIUB students showcase AR, animation at ‘Beyond the Frame’
The Animation Track of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC) at American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organised a three-day exhibition showcasing students' work in augmented reality, animation, digital art and interactive storytelling.
Titled "Beyond the Frame: Stories in Augmented Reality", the exhibition opened at AIUB on 23 August, according to a press release.
The event featured work by students from the Animation and Journalism Tracks, including augmented reality experiences inspired by AIUB student organisations and the landscapes, people and stories of Dhaka.

Selected virtual reality projects and other technology-based demonstrations were also displayed.
Ambassador of the Philippines to Bangladesh Nina P Cainglet inaugurated the exhibition as guest of honour.
Founder Member of AIUB and Member of its Board of Trustees Dr Hasanul A Hasan; Board of Trustees Member and former AIUB Vice-Chancellor Dr Carmen Z Lamagna; AIUB Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Saiful Islam; and Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Professor Dr Tazul Islam attended the opening ceremony.
In her address, Ambassador Cainglet highlighted the growing importance of creative industries and the Philippines' contribution to the global animation sector, particularly in digital and interactive media.
She also discussed the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act as a framework for supporting the country's creative sector.
Cainglet expressed hope that the exhibition would lead to further creative initiatives and collaboration between Bangladesh and the Philippines.
Referring to her experience of living in Dhaka, she said she was interested in seeing the city's landscapes, people and everyday life presented through students' creative perspectives.
Founder Member of AIUB Dr Hasanul A Hasan stressed the importance of embracing emerging academic disciplines and preparing students for opportunities in the creative and technology-driven economy.
Board of Trustees Member Dr Carmen Z Lamagna discussed the potential of the animation industry and announced that AIUB planned to establish an academic department focused on animation.
Lecturer in the JMC Animation Track Rani Elen V Ramos welcomed the guests and thanked the university authorities, faculty members, students and collaborators for supporting the exhibition.
Head of JMC Professor Dr Pradip Kumar Panday delivered the closing remarks and congratulated the students, faculty members and organisers.
Associate Dean Dr Faria Sultana, AIUB Proctor Professor Dr Manzur H Khan, faculty members, administrative officials, advisers, guests, media representatives and students also attended the event.
AIUB said the exhibition reflected JMC's emphasis on practical learning, emerging media technologies, and interdisciplinary creative practice.
