Syngenta and DAE launch safer crop-spraying programme
Syngenta Bangladesh Limited and the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) have launched a Spray Service Provider initiative in Dhaka to improve farmers' access to quality spraying services.
The programme aims to promote the safe, judicious and responsible use of crop-protection products, according to a press release.
Under the initiative, a network of trained spray service providers will be developed to help farmers use products properly and maintain spraying equipment.
The programme will also focus on responsible product stewardship and building service providers' capacity to improve agricultural outcomes while protecting people and the environment.
Director General of DAE Md Abdur Rahim attended the inauguration as chief guest.
Additional Director for Pest Management, Surveillance and Forecasting at the Plant Protection Wing Mohammad Enayet E Rabbi chaired the event.
Director of Crop Wings Dr Salma Laizoo and Director of the Administration and Finance Wing Dr Mohammed Kazi Mujibur Rahman attended as special guests.
Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Syngenta Bangladesh Muhammed Shahidul Islam, Head of Sustainability and Corporate Affairs for AMEA Chris Argent and Head of Sustainable and Responsible Business for AMEA Bruno Ananias Cesar also joined the programme.
Senior officials and representatives of DAE and Syngenta Bangladesh were present.
