DIU hosts workshop on quality assurance, accreditation
Daffodil International University (DIU) organised a workshop on quality assurance and accreditation in higher education at its Daffodil Smart City campus in Birulia, Savar, on 30 August, bringing together Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) representatives and senior DIU officials.
Titled "Knowledge Sharing on Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education", the workshop was organised by DIU and invited representatives of the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) and senior DIU officials, according to a press release.
BAC Chairman Professor Dr Md Akhtar Hossain Khan attended the workshop as chief guest, while DIU Board of Trustees Chairman Dr Md Sabur Khan attended as guest of honour.

DIU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr MR Kabir chaired the programme.
BAC Full-Time Member Professor Dr Md Shah Amran, Director of Accreditation and QA and NQF at BAC Professor Nasir Uddin Ahammed, DIU Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammed Masum Iqbal and Dean of Academic Affairs and Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell Professor Dr Mostafa Kamal also addressed the workshop.
The discussions focused on accreditation standards and criteria, institutional preparedness, quality assurance and systematic documentation.
Deans, associate deans, department heads, associate heads, faculty members and members of the university's programme self-assessment committees attended the event.
During a knowledge-sharing session, BAC Chairman Professor Dr Md Akhtar Hossain Khan commended DIU for beginning its accreditation process and highlighted the growing importance of accreditation for higher education institutions.
He urged the university community not to be apprehensive about the process and stressed the need to properly maintain records of academic activities, achievements, credentials and institutional practices.
He said systematic documentation was essential for presenting credible evidence during accreditation assessments.
DIU Board of Trustees Chairman Dr Md Sabur Khan discussed the local and global dimensions of accreditation and the importance of internationally benchmarked practices in strengthening the competitiveness of higher education institutions.
DIU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr MR Kabir highlighted the need for institutional preparedness and sustained quality enhancement to meet evolving accreditation requirements.
BAC representatives also participated in a question-and-answer session with faculty members, covering technical, procedural and institutional aspects of accreditation.
DIU said the guidance shared during the workshop would help its academic and administrative units better understand accreditation requirements and strengthen evidence-based documentation.
