Ctg Custom House to auction 442 containers of uncleared goods
Bidders have been requested to visit the official e-auction portal for further details.
Chattogram Custom House has launched an initiative to auction 442 containers of unclaimed and auctionable goods through two separate e-auctions this month, aiming to ease container congestion at Chattogram Port and improve operational efficiency.
The move is also intended to ensure the physical and financial safety of goods and prevent wastage of state resources, according to a press release issued by the National Board of Revenue today (24 August).

The auctions will be conducted online under standing orders and special instructions issued by the NBR.
Under Special E-Auction, 290 containers will be sold in 101 lots. The goods include chemicals, machinery parts, plastic scrap, yarn, fabrics, solar modules, tiles and household items.
There will be no reserved price for these goods.
The rest 152 containers will be sold in 109 lots through E-Auction.
The consignments include capital machinery, fabrics, PVC flex banners, chemicals, air-conditioner parts, tiles, stainless steel coils, scanners, badminton rackets, elevators and salt.
Interested bidders will get an opportunity to physically inspect the goods at port during office hours before submitting their bids.
For E-Auction, inspection will be allowed on 30 August to 13 September, while goods under Special E-Auction can be inspected on 30 August to 15 September.
Bidders can register through the customs e-auction portal and submit their bids online.
Bidding for E-Auction will remain open from 27 August until 3pm on 16 September. For Special E-Auction, bids can be submitted from 27 August until 3pm on 17 September.
Participants must upload a scanned copy of a security deposit equivalent to at least 10% of their proposed bid value during the online bidding process. They must subsequently submit the original documents within the stipulated timeframe.
Successful bidders must clear the goods in accordance with the applicable provisions of the Import Policy Order 2021-2024.
The online tender box for E-Auction will be opened at 3:30pm on 16 September, while that for Special E-Auction will be opened at 11am on 20 September.
The NBR expects the technology-driven auction process to help increase the port's handling capacity, reduce congestion and improve the management of goods that remain uncleared for extended periods.
The initiative is also expected to help recover value from auctionable consignments while ensuring more efficient use of port facilities and state resources.
