14 univs sign deals with ICAB to expand pathways to CA profession
ICAB said the arrangement would allow eligible graduates to progress more quickly towards the CA qualification by recognising relevant prior academic learning.
Fourteen public and private universities and institutions have signed addenda to existing memorandums of understanding with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) to strengthen links between higher education and the professional accountancy sector.
Authorised representatives of 25 departments from the institutions signed the agreements at the ICAB-Public and Private Universities Signing Ceremony 2026 at the ICAB Auditorium at CA Bhaban in Dhaka today (20 August).
Under the expanded collaboration, ICAB and the participating institutions will encourage meritorious graduates and postgraduates to pursue Chartered Accountancy as a career.

A key feature of the agreements is the provision for credit for prior learning and exemptions from relevant CA programme papers, where applicable. This will allow eligible graduates to progress towards the CA qualification faster by recognising relevant academic learning.
The agreements will also create opportunities for partly qualified and qualified ICAB members to pursue university degrees, higher education and research programmes.
ICAB said the collaboration would improve accounting and finance education through academic and professional exchanges. The institutions will also explore joint research, academic collaboration and knowledge-sharing opportunities.
The initiative is expected to strengthen interaction among students, teachers, accounting professionals and other stakeholders and help produce competent, ethical and future-ready professionals.
ICAB President Sabbir Ahmed, Vice President Mohammad Redwanur Rahman and Education and Examination Directorate Director Masud Parvez addressed the programme. ICAB Chief Executive Officer Md Quamruzzaman delivered the welcome address.
The institute said the agreements are part of its ongoing efforts to expand pathways into the CA profession while creating opportunities for professional accountants to pursue higher education and research.
