Customs officials have detained a Dubai-bound passenger with foreign currency worth Tk42 lakh at Chattogram's Shah Amanat International Airport. 

"Rabikul Islam, a passengers of Biman Bangladesh Airlines was detained during the final checking after immigration on Wednesday," Chattogram Customs House's airport unit Deputy Commissioner, Roksana Khatun confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.

"$33,900 and 42,000 UAE dirhams were recovered from Rakibul,"  said an officer of Chattogram Customs House's airport unit.

Preparations were underway to file a case against him at Patenga police station, he added.

Earlier, on October 24, members of the National Security Intelligence (NSI) detained two Dubai-bound passengers along with foreign currency worth Tk 41 lakh at Shah Amanat International Airport.
