Verdict on Rifat murder: Security tightened in Barguna’s children’s court

Security has been beefed up centring the Barguna court area ahead of the verdict of 14 juvenile accused in the sensational Rifat Sharif murder case.
There are three levels of security in the court premises. Ahead of the verdict, police have been put on alert in Barguna's children's court.
On 14 October, Barguna Children's Court Justice Hafizur Rahman fixed the date to pronounce the verdict after hearing arguments from both the prosecution and defence lawyers.

Among the 14 accused, six have been brought to the court from Barguna district jail at around 9:30am. The other eight accused who were on bail have also reached the court.
A total of 74 witnesses testified against the 14 accused, aged between 14 and 17, according to court sources.
Rifat was hacked in broad daylight in front of Barguna Government College on June 26 last year. He died at Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital on the same day.
On September 30, the District and Sessions Judge's Court delivered the verdict on the 10 adult accused.
The court handed down death sentences to six, including Rifat's wife Ayesha Siddika Minni, and acquitted the four others.
