BRAC receives Tk110cr dividend from BRAC Bank for 2025
BRAC Bank PLC has disbursed Tk110 crore in dividend proceeds to BRAC for the 2025 financial year, reinforcing both organisations' commitment to Bangladesh's socioeconomic progress.
The dividend was formally handed over at an event titled "BRAC Family – For the People, For the Country", held in Dhaka on 18 June.
BRAC Bank declared a 30% dividend for 2025, comprising 15% cash and 15% stock. As the bank's largest shareholder, BRAC received Tk110 crore in dividends.
The event underscored the longstanding partnership between BRAC Bank PLC and BRAC, demonstrating a model where returns from mission-aligned investments drive the expansion of BRAC's development programmes in Bangladesh.
BRAC Bank was established with a mandate to operate as a profitable, socially responsible financial institution while contributing to Bangladesh's economic and social development through its association with BRAC.
Speaking at the event, Meheriar M Hasan, Chairperson of BRAC Bank PLC, said, "The true measure of success is not only how value is created, but how that value is shared. As our largest shareholder, BRAC reinvests the dividends it receives from BRAC Bank PLC into programmes that improve lives across Bangladesh."
"It is a powerful demonstration of finance serving a greater purpose—where commercial success ultimately translates into social progress," he added.
Tareq Refat Ullah Khan, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BRAC Bank PLC, said the dividend handover symbolised far more than a financial distribution.
"It reflects a unique partnership where sustainable business performance directly contributes to improving lives through education, healthcare, livelihoods, financial inclusion, and climate resilience," he said.
"Knowing that the value we create ultimately serves society inspires us to remain steadfast in the values-based banking philosophy envisioned by our founder, Sir Fazle Hasan Abed," he added.
Receiving the dividend on behalf of BRAC, Asif Saleh, Executive Director of BRAC, said the partnership demonstrates how sustainable business performance can support long-term social progress.
"BRAC Bank PLC's success helps strengthen BRAC's work in creating opportunities for marginalised people across Bangladesh. As part of BRAC's broader ecosystem of solutions, the bank plays an important role in generating resources that enable us to invest in programmes and innovations addressing complex development challenges," he said.
Senior leaders from BRAC, bKash, BRAC University, and other BRAC-affiliated organisations attended the event.
