Measles outbreak: 4 more die in 24hrs, death toll rises to 656

Four children have died from suspected measles symptoms in the 24 hours between 8am yesterday (14 June) and 8am today (15 June), raising the total death toll linked to the outbreak to 656.
During the same period, 952 patients with measles symptoms were reported nationwide, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). Of them, 64 cases were laboratory-confirmed as measles.
So far this year, at least 93 children have died from confirmed measles infections, while 563 children have died with symptoms consistent with the disease, DGHS data showed.
The latest health bulletin said between 15 March and 15 June, a total of 10,337 measles cases were confirmed through laboratory testing. During the same period, 86,923 suspected cases were recorded across the country.
According to the DGHS, 71,467 measles patients have been admitted to hospitals nationwide since mid-March, while 67,878 patients have been discharged after receiving treatment.
Dhaka division continues to account for the highest number of infections and deaths, with 40,297 suspected cases and 239 suspected measles-related deaths reported so far.
