Measles outbreak: 3 more die in 24hrs, death toll rises to 642

Three children have died from suspected measles symptoms in the 24 hours between 8am yesterday (10 June) and 8am today (11 June), raising the total death toll linked to the outbreak to 642.
During the same period, 1,110 patients with measles symptoms were reported nationwide, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). Of them, 132 cases were laboratory-confirmed as measles.
So far this year, at least 92 children have died from confirmed measles infections, while 550 children have died with symptoms consistent with the disease, DGHS data showed.
The latest health bulletin said between 15 March and 11 June, a total of 10,059 measles cases were confirmed through laboratory testing. During the same period, 83,139 suspected cases were recorded across the country.
According to the DGHS, 68,056 measles patients have been admitted to hospitals nationwide since mid-March, while 64,293 patients have been discharged after receiving treatment.
Dhaka division continues to account for the highest number of infections and deaths, with 38,688 suspected cases and 232 suspected measles-related deaths reported so far.
