India's Border Security Force (BSF) took back 17 people, including women and children, after failing to push them into Bangladesh through the Sapahar border in Naogaon.
The group was reportedly taken back into Indian territory around 1am today (6 June) after BSF personnel switched off border lights and withdrew them from the zero line, reports Prothom Alo.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Ariful Islam, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-16 in Naogaon, said, "BSF personnel are believed to have taken the 17 individuals back after failing to push them into Bangladesh."
He added that BGB has intensified patrols in the area following the incident.

After receiving information about the incident, BGB members took up positions in the area and remained on alert, preventing the group from entering Bangladesh.
Mahbub Alam, a tractor driver from Kolmudanga village, told Prothom Alo that BGB members guarded the group throughout the day.
"Even around 11pm, when I was loading paddy onto my tractor, BGB personnel were still there. Later, BSF members dragged the people back into India. They did not want to go with the BSF and were crying," he said.
