2 friends killed, 4 hurt in triple motorcycle collision during Eid outing in Bogura
Two men were killed and four others injured in a triple motorcycle collision while out celebrating Eid in Sherpur upazila of Bogura last night (28 May).
Confirming the incident, Sherpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge SM Moinuddin said the bodies are currently at the hospital morgue and will be handed over to the families after legal procedures are completed.
The accident occurred around 8:45pm in the Shuvogacha (Shafoljani) area on the Sherpur-Dhunat regional road.
The deceased were identified as Abu Raihan, 20, of Ulipur area in the municipal town, and Tamim, 20, of Phultola area under Shah Bandegi Union. They were close friends.
The injured are Rajan, Siam, Hasan and Chamir. All four are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
According to police and local sources, a group of friends was travelling towards Dhunat on motorcycles to celebrate Eid. When they reached the Shuvogacha area, their motorcycle collided head-on with another speeding motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. At that moment, a third motorcycle approaching from behind lost control and crashed into them.
Abu Raihan died on the spot. Locals rescued the five injured and rushed them to Sherpur Upazila Health Complex. As their condition deteriorated, they were referred to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
Tamim died on the way to the hospital, while the remaining four were admitted to the hospital.
