Two members of United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) were killed and an Army soldier was wounded in a gunfight between UPDF–Prasit Group and Bangladesh Army in Rangamati.

A patrol team of the Rangamati Army Zone conducted a drive in the Burighat area, adjacent to Naniarchar in Rangamati, on Tuesday afternoon to arrest armed extortionists of the UPDF (Prasit Group) on the basis of a tip-off.

Upon realising the presence of army in the area, the extortionists started firing from a nearby hillock. Army members on patrol fired back in response, said an Inter-Services Public Relations press release.
