Fire at scrap warehouse in Brahmanbaria, owner claims Tk1cr loss

A massive fire broke out at a scrap goods warehouse in Brahmanbaria, with the warehouse owner claiming losses of around Tk1 crore.
The incident occurred around 12am on last night (14 May) in the Birasar area of the district town.
Although no casualties were reported, the warehouse owner claimed that goods worth nearly Tk1 crore were destroyed in the blaze.

Upon receiving the information, three units of the Fire Service rushed to the scene and brought the fire under control after nearly two hours of effort.
Warehouse owner Chotto Mia said the fire suddenly broke out at his scrap goods warehouse around midnight.
He said, "All goods stored inside the warehouse were completely gutted in the fire, causing losses of at least Tk1 crore."
Two staff members who were inside the warehouse at the time managed to escape safely, he added.
Deputy Assistant Director of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence in Brahmanbaria, Md Faruk Ahmed, said three fire service units worked for around two hours to contain the blaze after being informed of the incident.
He said, "However, the cause of the fire could not be determined immediately."
