Daffodil International University welcomes new students
Daffodil International University organised the "Orientation Programme Summer 2026" for newly admitted students at its Daffodil Smart City campus today (11 May).
The vibrant programme brought together around 5,000 freshers, marking the formal beginning of their academic journey.
Renowned Bangladeshi film, television and stage actor Zahid Hasan attended the programme as the special guest.
The event was chaired by Daffodil International University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr MR Kabir.
Deans of different faculties, department heads, faculty members and administrative officials also attended the programme.
Daffodil International University Board of Trustees Chairman Dr Md Sabur Khan welcomed the students through a video message.
A "Club Recruitment Programme", organised under the supervision of the Office of Student Affairs, featured participation from all university clubs.
Through different club booths, students had the opportunity to learn about co-curricular activities and join clubs of their interest.
One of the major attractions of the event was an experience-sharing session featuring successful alumni from the university's five faculties.
The speakers included Rancon Auto Division-2 Creative Lead ASM Arif; Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition Youth and Adolescent Nutrition Programme Project Coordinator and AstraZeneca Young Health Programme Advisory Board Member Mehedi Hasan Bappy; Janata Bank PLC Principal Officer Nusrat Jahan; and Akand Engineering CEO AM Tajuddin Ahmed.
The speakers shared their real-life professional experiences and provided guidance to help students build their careers.
They also encouraged students to make full use of the modern technology and facilities at Daffodil Smart City and develop themselves as skilled and confident professionals.
At the beginning of the programme, the freshers were welcomed with flowers.
Awards were presented to winners of different university sports events.
Meritorious students from the previous semester were also recognised for their achievements.
The programme concluded with an engaging cultural performance by teachers and students.
The university authorities expressed hope that the orientation programme would help new students quickly adapt to the university environment and support them in achieving their future goals.
The entire programme was coordinated and managed by the Office of Student Affairs of Daffodil International University.
