No ministry official provides information on oil import from Russia
The clarification stated that the ministry does not have any official information, updated information, or communication regarding any US concession on Russian fuel imports, or any proposal, decision, or arrangement by the government to purchase 10 lakh tonnes of diesel from Russia.
The Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources yesterday (17 April) gave an explanation on the news regarding the so-called US concession on Russian fuel imports, a ministry clarification said.
"No authorised official of the ministry provided any information, confirmation, or comment to any media outlet in this regard," it said, while the ministry observed that some media outlets published news yesterday mentioning a 60-day concession or any plan to import 10 lakh tonnes of diesel from Russia from 11 April 2026 to 9 June 2026.
The clarification stated that the ministry does not have any official information, updated information or communication regarding any US concession on Russian fuel imports or any proposal, decision or arrangement by the government to purchase 10 lakh tonnes of diesel from Russia.

Therefore, such news was not published based on any authorised information provided by the energy and mineral resources division, it said.
The ministry, however, said that unauthorised publication of sensitive information in the name of the energy and mineral resources division could create confusion in the national energy policy and international engagement.
