Besides, Abu Saeed's son Al-Amin of the same area, Abdul Mannan's son Md Nazrul, Momrez' son Rabiul, Nisar alias Anshar Ali's son Milon and Azizur Rahman Hawladar's son Mujibur Hawladar got life imprisonment and were fined Tk20,000 each.

Three of them – Rabiul, Milon and Mujibur Hawladar – are on the run.

Meanwhile, two other accused – Hasan and Ibrahim – were acquitted as the allegations brought against them were not proven.

The slain schoolboy Mafizul Islam Bappi, 16, was a ninth grader at People's Jute Mill High School in Khalishpur.

He was beaten to death by some miscreants while he and his friend Raju were sitting on the school premises on October 10, 2010.

Locals rescued him in a critical condition and took him to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where he gave a death statement to Dr Md Ismail Sheikh and Dr Sahadeva Kumar Das.

Hafizur Rahman, brother of Bappi, filed a case with Khalishpur police station the following day.

On March 31, 2012, police submitted a charge sheet against eight people.

Additional Public Prosecutor Kazi Sabbir Ahmed said 16 out of 18 witnesses testified before the court in connection with the murder case.

Rocky and Nazrul confessed to the killing and gave statements under section 164.
