Man arrested over 12 killed in Cumilla bus-train collision
A gateman has been arrested in connection with a case filed over 12 people recently killed in a collision between a bus and a train at Paduar Bazar in Cumilla.
Members of RAB-11 arrested Helal Uddin during a raid on Tuesday (24 March) evening in the Shankuchail area of Burichong upazila in Cumilla.
The development was confirmed in a message sent to the media from the RAB headquarters at night.
According to RAB, a briefing on the matter will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday (25 March) at the RAB Media Centre in Karwan Bazar.
Earlier, at around 3:00am on Saturday, a bus and a train collided at the Paduar Bazar rail crossing on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway, leaving 12 people dead and eight others injured.
On Monday, Shefali Akter, who was injured in the incident, filed a case with Laksam Railway Police Station, naming gatemen Helal Uddin and Mehedi Hasan as accused.
Following the filing of the case, RAB initiated an investigation.
