Arrest warrant issued against Tulip over Gulshan flat scam
The ACC on 15 April 2025, filed the case against Tulip, Mosharraf and his colleague Shah Md Khasruzzaman accusing them of securing a flat from Eastern Housing Limited in Gulshan through illegal benefits.
A Dhaka court has issued an arrest warrant against Tulip Siddiq, niece of ousted former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, along with another accused, in a case filed over allegedly acquiring a flat illegally from a private developer in the capital's Gulshan-2 area.
Accepting the charge sheet submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order today (18 February).
The court also set 8 March for submission of a report on the execution of the arrest warrants, ACC Public Prosecutor Mir Ahmed Ali Salam confirmed.
The other accused in the case is former assistant legal adviser of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) Sardar Mosharraf Hossain.
The ACC on 15 April 2025, filed the case against Tulip, Mosharraf and his colleague Shah Md Khasruzzaman accusing them of securing a flat from Eastern Housing Limited in Gulshan through illegal benefits.
According to the case documents, the accused allegedly, in collusion with each other, abused their power and illegally took possession of a flat of Eastern Housing Limited in Gulshan-2 without paying any money, and later got it registered. The flat is Flat No B/201, House No: 5A and 5B (old), presently 113 and 11B (new), Road No 71.
Following the case, accused Khasruzzaman filed a writ petition with the High Court in July this year. In response, the High Court stayed the investigation against him for three months. Later, the ACC received a "no order" from the Chamber Court.
After completing the investigation on 11 December, the ACC submitted a charge sheet against Tulip and Mosharraf under Sections 161/165(ka)/467/468/471/109 of the Penal Code and Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.
