'One of the most acceptable polls in country's history': CEC assures maximum transparency in results
CEC stated that despite some limitations and minor shortcomings, the election was overall conducted at a high standard.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has described the 13th parliamentary election as one of the best, most acceptable, and festive elections in the country's history. He said the Election Commission has succeeded in delivering a neutral, transparent, and credible election in line with the promises made to the people.
During an official briefing at the EC headquarters results centre around 10:00pm yesterday (12 February), the CEC stated that despite some limitations and minor shortcomings, the election was overall conducted at a high standard.
He noted that approximately 17 lakh officials, staff members, and law enforcement personnel were engaged in successfully managing the massive voting operation, including the referendum.
"No private or unverified results will be accepted by the Election Commission. Only results officially received and signed by returning officers will be published," the CEC said.
Explaining the delay in vote counting, he said that the inclusion of referendum ballots and postal ballots naturally requires additional time to finalise the results. However, he assured that there is no scope for manipulation or irregularities.
"The Election Commission does not believe in secrecy and remains committed to presenting the entire election process and results transparently to the nation through the media," he added.
The CEC claimed that compared to past controversial elections, this year's election would be considered more acceptable and trustworthy by any standard.
