Rumeen Farhana and BNP-backed Junaid’s supporters scuffle at Brahmanbaria-2 polling centre
The scuffle caused fear among voters and halted voting for about 10 minutes.
Supporters of BNP alliance-backed candidate Maulana Junaid Al Habib and independent candidate Barrister Rumeen Farhana scuffled at a polling centre in Sarail Upazila of Brahmanbaria.
The incident took place this morning (12 February) around 9:45am at Alinagar Government Primary School polling centre under the Brahmanbaria-2 constituency.
The scuffle caused fear among voters and halted voting for about 10 minutes.
Mohammad Ahid Hossain, the presiding officer of the Alinagar polling centre, said a verbal argument broke out between polling agents of Rumeen Farhana and Junayed inside a voting room.
The argument escalated outside the voting room, leading to a physical fight between their supporters.
Law enforcement personnel intervened and brought the situation under control, allowing voting to resume.
