Jamaat's election engineering plan now evident across country: Zonayed Saki
Some parties relying more on manipulation than on voters’ ballots, he says
Zonayed Saki, the BNP alliance-backed candidate for the Brahmanbaria-6 (Banchharampur) constituency, has alleged that Jamaat-e-Islami is carrying out a nationwide plan of "election engineering" to influence the electoral process.
"The plan of election engineering by the Jamaat-led alliance has become clear across the country. We are witnessing various signs of it here in Banchharampur as well," he said while speaking at a press conference at Banchharampur upazila yesterday (11 February).
Saki, who is also the chief coordinator of Ganosamhati Andolon, claimed that various traditional tactics were being employed in the contest for political power, with some parties relying more on manipulation than on voters' ballots.
Saki alleged that a coordinated strategy had been adopted nationwide that included casting votes on behalf of absent voters, bringing substances to erase voting ink, enabling multiple voting by the same individual, deliberately creating mobs at polling centres, and spreading propaganda to obstruct voters.
He further claimed that if the administration were influenced in favour of a particular party, many irregularities might go unchecked.
