Zero tolerance against extortion and mugging: Bobby Hajjaj
Ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, he declared his election manifesto today (4 February) at an event organised by the Bangladesh Election Commission.
Bobby Hajjaj, BNP-nominated MP candidate from the Dhaka-13 constituency, has announced a zero-tolerance policy against extortion and mugging in his constituency, which comprises Mohammadpur, Adabor, and parts of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
Ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, he declared his election manifesto today (4 February) at an event organised by the Bangladesh Election Commission.
In his nine-point manifesto, Bobby Hajjaj pledged to carry out regular joint operations to control Kishor gangs, drugs, mugging, and extortion in the area, as well as uphold commitments on youth development, strengthen women's safety, and the develop the Geneva camps.
He also emphasises strengthening surveillance in crime-prone areas and ensuring active citizen participation. The manifesto outlines plans to improve street lighting, install CCTV cameras, and strengthen rapid response mechanisms in busy roads and crowded public areas to reduce mugging.
The manifesto further states, "A dedicated help desk will be established to quickly receive and resolve complaints related to extortion and promises to ensure follow-up on complaints to prevent harassment of business owners."
He also pledges to take necessary legal measures to keep public spaces and playgrounds free from illegal occupation, ensuring safe movement for residents and maintaining a business-friendly environment in the area.
