Bangladesh has nothing new to gain from BNP, Jamaat: Charmonai Pir
He also reflected on the political culture in Bangladesh, noting that changes in power often see fleeing leaders absolved of their crimes while others face executions, a situation he said must change.
The people of Bangladesh have nothing new to gain from the BNP or Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Andolan Bangladesh Ameer Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, popularly known as Charmonai Pir, said today (2 February).
Speaking as the chief guest at an election rally at Laksam Stadium in Comilla, Rezaul criticised the past governance of the BNP, saying the party had "championed corruption across the world" during its tenure.
He said the coalition led by Jamaat, which was in power alongside the BNP for many years, had also failed to govern according to Shariah and relied instead on conventional laws.
"There is nothing new to gain from them," he added.
The ameer also reflected on the political culture in Bangladesh, noting that changes in power often see fleeing leaders absolved of their crimes while others face executions, a situation he said must change.
He called on voters to support Islami Andolan Bangladesh candidates in the upcoming national election by voting for the party's hand-fan symbol.
