Salman Shah had a very short span of career of only three and a half years and within this short time he starred in 27 movies. Despite such a short career, this hero is still very popular. His name still comes up as a style icon of Bengali films. Today is his birthday! To pay a tribute to this heartthrob, The Business Standard has recommendation of five of his best films.

Keyamat Theke Keyamat

Director Sohanur Rahman Sohan always liked to work with newcomers. He introduced a 21-year old young man named Shahriar Chowdhury Emon alias Salman Shah to his new movie Keyamat Theke Keyamat. He chose Anandavichitra photogenic face Mousumi as the heroin. The film was released on Eid on March 25, 1993, under the banner of Anandamela Cinema. As it was the official remake of the vastly popular Hindi movie Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, everything including the story and songs was copied.

Despite being a remake, this movie made a splash in Bangladesh. This new duo was warmly accepted by the film-crazy people of this country. At that time, the film had a business of more than Tk8 crore. To see the performance of this actor, one should first see his first film.

Bikkhov

Mousumi-Salman duo broke up after doing four movies together.

Bikkhov is the first film starred by Salman Shah and Shabnur. At first, many doubted that the pair would not succeed but the film made great business by pushing away all doubts. Mohammad Hannan made a great action-based movie about student politics, which was well acclaimed by Salman fans. The film was released in 1994.

Shopner Thikana

All the films starring Salman Shah-Shabnur duo are commercially successful. The film Shopner Thikana is no exception. Directed by MA Khaleq, the film was released on May 11, 1995, on the occasion of Eid.
The story of the film, however, was very simple. A love affair developed between Sumon, the son of a rich man, and Sumi, the daughter of a poor man. The whole story goes ahead with the love triangle common in the '90s. The film earned about Tk19 crore.

Konnadaan

Salman has also acted in story-based family movies without limiting himself to traditional movies only. Konnadaan, directed by Delwar Jahan Jhantu, released in 1995, is one such movie which brought great success in his future career.

Tomake Chai

Tomake Chai is another super hit movie starring Salman Shah and Shabnur. After the release of this film, Salman caused a stir among the fans. It is still a very popular love-story film and great business success. Everyone should watch the movie to see Salman Shah's romantic performance.
