EC declares 58 nominations valid, rejects 7 on second day of appeal hearings
The hearings are part of the EC’s review of appeals against returning officers’ decisions for the 13th national parliamentary election to be held on 12 February.
The Election Commission (EC) today (11 January) held the second day of hearing appeals filed against returning officers' decisions on nomination papers for the upcoming national election, approving 58, rejecting seven, and keeping six under review.
The hearings are part of the EC's review of appeals against returning officers' decisions for the 13th national parliamentary election to be held on 12 February.
The hearings were held at the EC office in the capital's Agargaon from 10am to 5pm, said Md Ruhul Amin Mallik, director of Public Relations at the EC Secretariat.
According to the EC schedule, appeals of 71 candidates were heard today. Besides, the appeal filed by Md Mohiuddin, an independent candidate of the Munshiganj-3 constituency, which had been pending, has been approved.
Yesterday, on the first day of hearings, 51 candidates had their nominations restored after appealing against returning officers' decisions. One candidate whose nomination had been declared valid by a returning officer had their nomination cancelled.
