Brac Bank staff donate winter clothes to Bandarban hill communities
BRAC Bank employees have concluded a week-long winter clothing drive, collecting over 400 essential items for hill communities in Bandarban.
The initiative, titled Khushi Chhorai Ushnotay (Spreading Joy Through Warmth), was conducted in partnership with Jhilimili, a youth volunteer group engaged in community service. Staff from all levels of the organisation participated, with collection booths set up at the bank's head office.
Employees donated over 270 hoodies, jackets, jumpers and trousers, along with 110 winter garments for children aged four to 13. In addition, 30 shawls, mufflers, gloves and hats, as well as 28 blankets, were collected.
Staff from various departments also volunteered their time to organise collection points, sort donated items and coordinate with Jhilimili volunteers for distribution. The initiative fostered a sense of shared purpose across the organisation, with teams working together to maximise impact.
Hill communities in Bandarban face acute challenges during winter owing to geographic isolation, limited access to markets and economic constraints that make winter clothing difficult to afford. The donated items will be distributed among these communities by Jhilimili volunteers.
"This initiative demonstrates the unity and compassion of our employees," said Tareq Refat Ullah Khan, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BRAC Bank. "Together, we are not only collecting clothing but also spreading hope and warmth to those who need it most. We look forward to continuing our support in future."
BRAC Bank said that through such initiatives it continues to translate empathy into action, reinforcing its commitment to inclusive growth and social responsibility beyond banking.
