LPG operators mourn passing of former PM Khaleda Zia

The LPG Operators Association of Bangladesh (LOAB) has expressed deep sorrow at the death of former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia, describing her passing as a major loss for the nation's political and democratic journey.

In a condolence message issued yesterday (30 December), the association said Khaleda Zia passed away on 30 December, leaving a profound void in the country's national life and in the hearts of millions who admired her leadership.

"With profound sadness and deep sorrow, the LPG Operators Association of Bangladesh extends its heartfelt condolences on the passing of Begum Khaleda Zia, the former three-time prime minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh," the statement said.

The condolence message was signed by Mohammed Amirul Haque, president of the association.

LOAB described Khaleda Zia as a towering figure in Bangladesh's political history and recalled her role as the country's first woman prime minister, noting that she broke barriers at a time when national politics was dominated by men.

"As the first woman prime minister of our nation, she stood as a symbol of resilience, courage, and unwavering commitment to her beliefs," the association said.

The statement noted that her leadership spanned some of the most challenging phases of Bangladesh's democratic evolution, during which she remained a vocal advocate for her party, its supporters, and the democratic process.

"Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to public service, and her contributions to Bangladesh's political landscape will remain a significant part of our national history," it added.

The association also offered prayers for the departed leader, seeking divine mercy for her soul and strength for her family and well-wishers during the period of mourning.

"May Almighty Allah grant her the highest place in Jannatul Firdaus and bestow patience and comfort upon her family, loved ones, colleagues, and well-wishers," the statement added.
