Dhaka North removes nearly 250,000 illegal banners, festoons and posters in one month
DNCC Administrator Mohammad Ejaz shared the information today (4 December) after a divisional review meeting at Nagar Bhaban
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) removed a total of 247,000 illegal banners, festoons and posters across the city in November.
DNCC Administrator Mohammad Ejaz shared the information today (4 December) after a divisional review meeting on the banner–festoons removal drive at Nagar Bhaban.
The meeting presented detailed statistics on removal activities carried out across 52 wards under DNCC's 10 regions.
"We removed this large volume of banners and festoons only from major roads, highways and key locations over the past month. The number is even higher inside alleys," the administrator said.
He added that 28% of the removed materials were political, 21% belonged to commercial entities and 17% to educational institutions.
Addressing those responsible, the administrator said the city cannot achieve positive change through such disorder. "Residents are not taking this visual pollution lightly. We expect everyone to stop littering the city in this manner."
He urged political leaders and commercial organisations to refrain from illegal outdoor promotions and advise their followers or associates to do the same to help build a clean, orderly and aesthetic Dhaka.
According to the report, Region 3 recorded the highest removal, with 65,150 banners and festoons taken down.
Around 47,000 were removed from Region 5, 37,000 from Region 2 and 33,000 from Region 7.
DNCC conducted the month-long drive across 52 wards under its 10 regions. Officials said the cleanup activity will continue.
