Khaleda's physician to brief nation on her latest health status today
Dr Zahid is scheduled to brief journalists in detail on the former prime minister's health condition, ongoing treatment, physical progress, and the medical board's observations at 12pm in front of the gate of Evercare Hospital
The latest medical status of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will be disclosed today (4 December) by her personal physician and BNP Standing Committee member Professor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain.
Dr Zahid is scheduled to brief journalists in detail on the former prime minister's health condition, ongoing treatment, physical progress, and the medical board's observations at 12pm in front of the gate of Evercare Hospital in Bashundhara, Dhaka.
Separately, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed is scheduled to hold a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan Central Office at 11am.
The update was confirmed by BNP Media Cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan. He added that the press briefing will provide the nation with the most recent information regarding the ailing BNP chief, who has been undergoing treatment at the hospital since 23 November for multiple chronic complications, including issues related to the liver, kidney, heart, and lungs.
She was moved to the Critical Care Unit (CCU) on 27 November after her condition deteriorated.
On 2 December, Dr Zahid had indicated a positive development, stating that the medical board, which includes local and foreign specialists, confirmed that Khaleda Zia is responding to the ongoing treatment, raising the possibility of her recovery this time.
In a related development, the government officially declared Khaleda Zia a "Very Very Important Person (VVIP)" under the Special Security Force (SSF) Act on 1 December. This designation grants her close protection by the SSF, the elite security unit responsible for guarding the president and the head of the government.
Since her admission, security has been significantly tightened around Evercare Hospital, with the deployment of SSF, Presidential Guard Regiment (PGR), police, and other law enforcement agencies. Barbed-wire barricades have been placed at the main gate, restricting public movement.
