Earthquake jolts Dhaka again, epicentre in Narsingdi
The epicentre was located in Ghorashal of Narsingdi, 28km northwest of BMD Seismic Centre in Agargaon
A mild earthquake shook Dhaka and adjacent districts this afternoon (27 November).
The tremor measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale was recorded at 4:15pm, meteorologist Shahnaj Sultana of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) told UNB.
The epicentre was located in Ghorashal of Narsingdi, 28km northwest of BMD Seismic Centre in Agargaon, she said.
Initially, the epicentre was located approximately 31km from Dhaka. While the exact depth could not be determined immediately, the quake was likely shallow in nature, according to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC),
Many residents reported feeling a brief but noticeable jolt. However, no damage or casualties were reported as of filing this report.
On 21 November, a 5.7-magnitude earthquake hit several parts of Bangladesh, leaving at least 10 people dead and dozens injured.
Two mild aftershocks also struck parts of the country the next day, spreading panic among people.
