Life-term convict dies at Chattogram Central Jail

A life-term convict died at Chattogram Central Jail in the early hours today (23 November).
The deceased was identified as Mansur Alam, son of Abdul Majid from Gazunia in Cox's Bazar Sadar.
Shah Sharif, jail superintendent of Chattogram Central Jail, said Mansur became critically ill inside the prison and was first taken to the jail hospital.

As his condition deteriorated further, he was shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, where on-duty doctors declared him dead around 1:45am, he added.
Deputy Jail Superintendent Md Iqbal Hossain said Mansur had been serving a life sentence in a rape case since 11 July 2018.
He added that the body will be handed over to the family following legal formalities.
