NCP leaders, Bida chief call on Bhutanese PM Tobgay, discuss expanding bilateral ties

Leaders of the National Citizen Party (NCP) and the executive chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (Bida) held separate courtesy meetings with visiting Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay in Dhaka today (23 November).
The discussions underscored a shared commitment to strengthening the already robust friendly relations, regional cooperation, and exploring new avenues for mutual benefit, according to the Chief Adviser's Press Wing.
Prime Minister Tobgay is currently on a three-day official visit to Bangladesh.
NCP leaders, led by Convener Nahid Islam, met with the Bhutanese prime minister at a hotel. The talks focused on fostering closer ties between the two nations.
Nahid Islam expressed gratitude for the visit and acknowledged Bhutan's unwavering support for Bangladesh's democratic journey. Islam stressed the crucial role of mutual cooperation in "further strengthening the bond between the peoples of the two countries".
Prime Minister Tobgay reciprocated, expressing satisfaction with the recent progress in Bangladesh-Bhutan bilateral relations. He specifically articulated Bhutan's keen interest in broadening cooperation in key sectors such as higher education, trade, and information technology.
NCP Joint Convener Sultan Muhammad Zakaria and Joint Member Secretary Alauddin Mohammad accompanied Nahid Islam during this significant meeting.
In a separate engagement, Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, executive chairman of Bida, also called on Prime Minister Tobgay this morning, confirms Chief Adviser's Press Wing.
