Hasan Minhaj’s 'Patriot Act' under fire after toxic workplace allegations

Recently, the cancellation of Hasan Minhaj's "Patriot Act" left its fan shocked. The move was abrupt for the talk show. However, new revelations about the popular show have sparked further controversy.

The allegations against the show are quite similar to a contemporary and prevalent problem in the talk show industry. The allegations strictly accuse the show of having a toxic workplace environment.

Hasan was the first Muslim talk show host in US mainstream media, yet ironically his show is now under fire for being a toxic place for diverse individuals, particularly, women of color.

Nur Ibrahim Nasreen, a Pakistan born journalist, and a producer of the Patriot Act was the first to call the show out on Twitter.  She recalled being, 'humiliated and gaslit, targeted and ignored' during her time on the show.

Nasreen reflected on how the show was necessary and she acknowledged her important work on the show. But, she had doubts if it was "worth the mental anguish".

It was not just Nasreen, a colleague of hers, Sheila V Kumar agreed with her reaffirming the claims saying, "I've never experienced a work environment like Patriot Act".

The news of the "Patriot Act" being a toxic workplace environment comes in the wake of appalling controversy in other talk shows.

Previously, Ellen DeGeneres'show had been part of a controversy surrounding ill-treatment in the workplace. This saw producers being fired from the show and rumors of "Ellen" being cancelled for life.
