National polls: Gono Forum announces initial list of candidates for 133 constituencies
Regarding a potential electoral alliance with the BNP, the Gono Forum leader said the party is currently preparing for the election independently
Gono Forum has announced its initial list of candidates today (15 November) for 133 constituencies for the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election.
The names were revealed this afternoon at a press conference held in the capital's National Press Club, where the announcement was made by the party's acting president Subrata Chowdhury.
Subrata Chowdhury will contest from Dhaka-6, while the party's General Secretary Mizanur Rahman will run from Magura-1.
In addition, the party's Presidium Member SM Altaf Hossain will contest from Dhaka-5; AKM Joglul Haider Afrik from Narsingdi-3; Moshtaque Ahmed from Cumilla-3; Selim Akbar from Chandpur-3; Suraiya Begum from Barguna-2; Ansar Khan from Sylhet-1; Abdul Hasib Chowdhury from Habiganj-3; Shri Ratan Banerjee from Chattogram-5; Abdul Hafiz from Jhenaidah-2; Hiron Kumar Das from Barishal-6; and Golam Hossain Abab from Sunamganj-3.
The party's Publicity and Publication Secretary Mohammad Ullah Madhu will contest from Patuakhali-3, while Information and Media Secretary THM Jahangir will run from Sunamganj-5 constituency.
Following the announcement of the initial candidate list, Subrata said, "We are publishing the names of 133 candidates today. The remaining names will be announced later. Those whose names are not included today may be added in the next phase."
Regarding a potential electoral alliance with the BNP, the Gono Forum leader said the party is currently preparing for the election independently.
"If we form an electoral alliance with any party, we will inform the media. Discussions with all sides are ongoing," he added.
