BNP wins five seats, NCP takes one in Noakhali
NCP Senior Joint Coordinator Abdul Hannan Masud won Noakhali-6 (Hatiya) with 90,118 votes against BNP’s Mahbuber Rahman Shamim
BNP candidates won five of Noakhali's six parliamentary seats, while National Citizen Party won one seat, according to final results announced by the district Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner, Muhammad Shafiqul Islam, after counting votes, including postal ballots.
In Noakhali-1 (Chatkhil-Sonaimuri), BNP's Mahabub Uddin Khokon received 126,833 votes, defeating Jamaat's Md Shaif Ullah, who polled 98,036 votes.
In Noakhali-2 (Senbagh-Sonaimuri), BNP candidate Zainul Abdin Faruk won 83,982 votes, ahead of NCP's Sultan Muhammad Zakaria, who received 67,054 votes.
In Noakhali-3 (Begumganj), independent candidate Barkat Ullah Bulu secured 137,937 votes, defeating Jamaat's Md Borhan Uddin, who received 117,824 votes.
In Noakhali-4 (Sadar-Subarnachar), BNP vice chairman Md Shahjahan won 219,182 votes, defeating Jamaat Islam's district Ameer and central Shura member Ishak Khandakar, who polled 148,989 votes.
In Noakhali-5 (Companiganj-Kobirhat and part of Sadar), BNP's Muhammad Fakhrul Islam, under the paddy sheaf symbol, won 147,808 votes, defeating Jamaat's Belayet Hossain, who received 120,453 votes, by a margin of 27,355 votes.
In Noakhali-6 (Hatiya), NCP Senior Joint Coordinator Abdul Hannan Masud defeated BNP's Mahbuber Rahman Shamim, receiving 90,118 votes against Shamim's 63,372 votes, according to the official announcement made by the upazila nirbahi officer and assistant returning officer at 3am today (13 February).
