2 more dengue patients dies, 1179 hospitalised in last 24 hours
The total death toll has risen to 315 so far this year
The dengue situation in Bangladesh continues to worsen, with 2 more deaths reported in the 24 hours leading up to this morning (10 November).
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 1,179 new dengue patients were hospitalised during this period, pushing the total number of cases this year to 79,722.
With the latest fatalities, the total death toll from the mosquito-borne disease has risen to 315 so far this year.
Among the new deaths reported, one occurred at the capital's Mugda Medical College and another at Popular Medical College Hospital.
The DGHS report further shows that 61.8% of this year's patients are male, while 38.2% are female. Among the fatalities, 53.2% were men and 46.8% were women.
Last year, dengue claimed 575 lives, with a total of 101,214 cases and 100,040 recoveries recorded nationwide.
