5-member probe committee formed after Farmgate metro accident: Fouzul
Service will continue between Diabari and Agargaon, says the adviser.
The government has formed a five-member committee to investigate the Farmgate metro rail fall that killed a pedestrian today (26 October).
Road Transport and Bridges Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan said the committee, headed by Bridges Division Secretary Abdur Rouf, has been asked to submit its report within two weeks.
"They will review the previous investigation report and identify why such incidents are recurring," the adviser told reporters after visiting the accident site.
The adviser also said metro rail operations will continue between Uttara North and Agargaon while the investigation is underway.
Fouzul said the government would provide Tk5 lakh in compensation to the victim's family and arrange employment at the metro rail for a qualified family member, if available.
The incident also left two others injured. The adviser added that he would visit the injured at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital.
Earlier in the day, metro rail operations were suspended after a bearing pad—used to prevent vibration during train movement—came loose and fell near the Farmgate station around 12:15pm, killing a pedestrian, according to police.
