30 injured as two groups clash in Brahmanbaria following argument over AL–BNP politics

At least 30 people were injured after two groups clashed on the Cumilla–Sylhet highway in Brahmanbaria's Uttar Suhilpur area on Wednesday night (22 October) following an altercation erupted over Awami League-BNP political rivalry.
The clash, which began around 8:45pm and continued until 11pm, halted traffic for nearly three kilometres, creating a severe traffic congestion, locals said.
Confirming the matter, Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Azharul Islam said police and army personnel rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
"Legal action will be taken against those involved in the clash," he said.
According to police and witnesses, the violence erupted after an earlier altercation between Saddam Hossain, of the "lawyer group", and Akhter Mia, of another group named "Aziz group".
The two groups reportedly argued over political issues involving the Awami League and BNP, during which Saddam allegedly slapped Akhter.
An arbitration meeting held earlier in the day failed to resolve the tension, leading both groups to engage in a violent confrontation with locally made weapons.
