309 more Bangladeshis repatriated from Libya
The returnees, who had been stranded in Tripoli and nearby regions, arrived in Dhaka around 10:30am on a chartered Fly Oya International flight

A total of 309 irregular Bangladeshi migrants were repatriated from Libya this morning (10 October).
The returnees, who had been stranded in Tripoli and nearby regions, arrived in Dhaka around 10:30am on a chartered Fly Oya International flight, reads a Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) press release.
The repatriation was jointly coordinated by MoFA, the Bangladesh Embassy to Libya, the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Officials from the foreign ministry, relevant agencies, and IOM welcomed the returnees at the airport.
According to the release, most of them had entered Libya lured by human traffickers with false promises of reaching Europe via the Mediterranean. Many suffered kidnapping and abuse during their stay in Libya.
The foreign ministry urged the returnees to share their harrowing experiences with others to raise awareness and prevent similar incidents.
The IOM provided each returnee with food supplies and basic medical assistance.
Meanwhile, the foreign ministry, the Bangladesh Embassy in Libya, the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, and the IOM will continue to work together to ensure the safe repatriation of Bangladeshis held in various detention centres across Libya, the release added.
