Talking about the best five about a particular food item is always going to be subjective and bound to raise a lot of opinions and controversy.

But since opinions will be there, and they will differ from person to person, we will still move on with our article.

To decide on the best five burgers in Dhaka, we have taken into consideration the taste, quantity, consistency, uniqueness and price of the burger.

And to start off, we must mention that a burger is one that has a beef patty and not a chicken one.

Secondly, we have considered burgers with a single patty and not a double one.

So without further ado, let's begin.

5) Millionaire burger from Farmhouse Burger: This is a fantastic burger with a tender and juicy patty and a great brioche bun. What sets it apart from the competition is the truffle sauce which adds in a great deal of flavour and texture.

The only downside of it is its price, which is Tk550 plus VAT. Located in Gulshan 1, you can get this delivered around the tristate area though we think it's better to go there and eat for the best experience. We give this a 7 out of 10 rating.

4) Smash burger from Edith: Located in Banani 11, Edith is a place that offers a wide variety of cakes and macaroons. But their burgers are some of the best in town and super underrated. They too offer brioche buns with a patty that is juicy and full of flavour.

The one area of discomfort might be that the burger can come off as a bit too salty for some. But overall, it's a great burger with a fantastic patty to bun ratio. Priced at Tk400, which includes a side of fries, it's a much cheaper alternative to Farmhouse, if you're looking for brioche buns on your burgers. You can order this burger if you're around the tristate area too. We give this an 8 out of 10 rating.

3) Classic cheese burger from Boma Burger: This is a gem of a burger with beef, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce and onions. It's a simple burger that does all the important things right. The patty has a beautiful smoky taste to it and the cheese doesn't create a mess. The whole thing is just a brilliant combo of flavours that will leave you craving for more. The burger is so great that it doesn't even need a fancy brioche bun.

The only thing we found a bit disappointing was that the quality of the burgers can be a bit inconsistent and thus this doesn't have a higher place in our list. Located in Banani, the best option is to order the food at your place via their Facebook page as they're not yet providing indoor seating. Priced at Tk319, we give this an 8.5 out of 10 rating.

2) Shroom burger from Fatty Bun: One of the hottest new burger joints in town, Fatty Bun deserves all the plaudits they can get because they are changing the game. The burgers are saucy, messy and filled with mushrooms and a thick patty. In our eyes, they are the new Takeout or Chillox, as far as burgers with a lot of sauce is concerned. But their special honey mustard sauce is to die for and goes extremely well with the patty and buns.

Speaking of buns, these are also brioche buns and the sweetness from the buns makes it even better. Located in Dhanmondi, Fatty Bun is offering delivery all over Dhaka, which is a rarity and they are packaged beautifully. If they can maintain this quality consistently for the years to come, they can become the best burger place in town. Priced at Tk299 plus VAT, this is one burger we wholeheartedly recommend and give a solid 9 out of 10 rating.

Beef cheese burger from American Burger: But at number one, it's still the classic, consistent and ever reliable American Burger, which takes the top spot. They don't need brioche buns, or any special sauce or a big fancy patty to win the competition. They make their own patties and buns and those are really their secret weapons that have stood the test of time.

The buns are soft and go perfectly with the juicy patty which has a trademark smoky flavour that only an American Burger can give you. The cheese slice is nothing fancy but it just goes perfectly with everything. There is literally no competition or parallel to this burger and it is one of those burgers that you'll want to have again and again. They are located in many places including Banani, Dhanmondi and Uttara. The only downside is that they are not offering home delivery but that just means that their branches are usually full and filled with the trademark aroma of an American Burger patty. Priced at only Tk182 plus VAT, this is the burger to have and we give our king a 9.5 out of 10.

So that was our list, though we have to give special mention to Preetom's Half pounder burger, Bistro E's Edge burger, Pit Grill's Beef steak burger and Holey Artisan's Holey Burger. These are all special burgers worth a try but they unfortunately couldn't make it to our list.

Overall, we have to say, Bangladesh has come a long way in the burger game and it's extremely heartwarming for a food lover to see it moving forward with such great strides.

At the end of the day, the customer is the real winner here.
