Durga Puja: Tarique conveys greetings to Hindu community, says state belongs to all regardless of faith
Addressing the Hindu community, he said, “Celebrate the festival with joy and enthusiasm across the country in safety and security. Spread the message of goodwill and harmony.”

BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has extended his greetings to the country's Hindus on the occasion of Durga Puja, one of the major religious festivals of the community in Bangladesh and worldwide, saying the state belongs to everyone regardless of faith.
In a video message posted today (28 September) on Facebook, as the five-day celebration of Durga Puja began, Tarique remarked that the beauty of Bangladesh's age-old religious and social values lies in the mutual friendship, harmony, goodwill and brotherhood among people of different religions.
He added that the state and the constitution guarantee the safety of every citizen regardless of their political affiliation, religion or caste, noting that it is, therefore, the responsibility of the state to ensure the security of all citizens in Bangladesh.
The BNP leader also said that under the fascist regime, attempts were made to create communal tension centring on Durga Puja. To prevent such situations in the future, he urged law enforcement agencies to remain vigilant and alert.
Addressing the Hindu community, he said, "Celebrate the festival with joy and enthusiasm across the country in safety and security. Spread the message of goodwill and harmony."
Concluding his message, Tarique reiterated the BNP's greetings on Durga Puja, saying, "We believe that religion belongs to each individual, and the state belongs to all. Religion is personal, but the right to security belongs to everyone."
