DB arrests 3, recovers 148 stolen phones and DSLR cameras in Ctg
He further said the three accused admitted to being part of a wider network of mobile phone thieves operating across Chattogram

The Detective Branch (DB) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has arrested three members of a mobile phone theft ring and recovered 148 mobile phones along with two DSLR cameras during a raid in Chattogram's Kotwali area yesterday (18 September).
The DB (Port) Division's Team-51 launched the operation around 8:30pm in Chattogram's Old Railway Station and Chaitanyagoli areas. Police first detained Sohail Mia, 33, from a mobile shop in Old Hawkers Market and seized 48 mobile phones from his possession, said Abu Bakar Siddique, deputy commissioner (port) of DB.
Acting on his information, the team later raided a rented apartment in Jinnapara of Chaitanyagoli, arresting Abdul Hakim alias Rakib, 27, and Yasin, 20, and recovering another 100 mobile phones along with two DSLR cameras.
The Deputy Commissioner (port) of DB, Abu Bakar Siddique, said the operation was initiated after a complaint by Akbar Hossain of Chawkbazar, whose Vivo Y03T phone was stolen from his home on 24 August.
"Through surveillance technology, the DB team tracked the device, which led to the gang's arrest," he added.
He further said the three accused admitted to being part of a wider network of mobile phone thieves operating across Chattogram. Further raids are underway to catch other members of the syndicate.
According to police records, the prime suspect, Sohail, was earlier accused in a case filed under sections 413/34 of the Penal Code at Kotwali Police Station in February.
