6 more dengue patients die, cases crosses 40,000

Six more deaths were reported from dengue in 24 hours till Thursday (18 September) morning, raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 167 this year.
During the period, 647 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, raising the number of confirmed cases to 40,461 this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the six recent deaths, five were women and one was men. Two of the dead were under treatment at DNCC Dedicated Covid-19 Hospital, one each at Mugda Medical College Hospital, Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Chittagong Medical College Hospital and Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
Currently, 1,325 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals across the country, 1236 of which are from outside Dhaka.
The dengue last year claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in the country.
