Mirza Abbas, Bulu, 27 others acquitted in 2013 sabotage case

A Dhaka court has acquitted BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas, Vice Chairman Barkat Ullah Bulu, and 27 others in a sabotage case filed at Ramna Police Station in 2013.
Dhaka's Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Wahiduzzaman issued the acquittal order after a hearing today (15 September).
Lawyers for the accused, Syed Zainul Abedin Mesbah and Zakir Hossain Jewel, argued for their release from the case. Following the hearing, the court accepted the application. Bulu was present during the proceedings.
Among the notable accused were BNP Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, Volunteer Affairs Secretary Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu, former Chhatra Dal president and BNP Volunteer Affairs Assistant Secretary Abdul Quader Bhuiyan Jewel, Chhatra Dal General Secretary Habibur Rashid Habib, former Jubo Dal leader Ishaq Sarkar, and Jubo Dal leader Hamidur Rahman Hamid.
According to the case documents, on 2 March 2013, BNP brought out a procession in the Shantinagar area under Ramna Police Station, demanding the restoration of the caretaker government.
During the demonstration, clashes broke out between BNP activists, police, and Awami League supporters.
Following the incident, Sub-Inspector Md Ashfaq Rajib Hasan of Ramna Police Station filed the case, and police later submitted a charge sheet against 29 individuals.
