Brazilian Guitarist Mateus Asato jump-starts his solo career

Mateus Asato, a Brazilian guitarist renowned for his work as a sideman with top pop artists worldwide, has announced the completion of his long-awaited debut album. Known for his skilful and versatile guitar playing, Mateus spent much of his twenties performing at legendary venues and festivals, gaining industry acclaim while gradually preparing for a solo career.
The album, recorded in April 2025 at Los Angeles' famed EastWest Studios, features 14 instrumental tracks. Mateus collaborated with Anthony Uriarte on drums, Isaias Alpes on bass and percussion, and Matt Meinhard as mixing engineer and executive producer.
Reflecting on the journey, Mateus admitted that doubts about his identity as an instrumentalist delayed the project for nearly a decade. "I've always loved making instrumentals, and now I feel this is the right season to release them," he said. Stepping away from sideman work, the guitarist embraces this milestone as the beginning of his solo career.
