Balam returns to albums after decade-long hiatus with ‘Maula’
After a break of over ten years from the format, singer-composer Balam is set to release a new full-length studio album, Maula, this coming Eid-ul-Fitr.
Moving away from the trend of standalone singles, the artist has composed and arranged six new tracks for the project. The title track, described as the album's emotional centrepiece, draws on Sufi philosophy and reflects the introspection of the Covid-19 pandemic. According to Balam, the return to a full album allows for a broader narrative range that singles cannot offer.
All tracks will be released in audio format, with one song accompanied by a music video. Despite the long gap between studio albums, Balam has remained active in the industry, recently earning praise for his playback work in films such as Priyotoma and Rajkumar.
