NCP denies joining eight-party simultaneous programme, calls reports 'misleading'
“The party has not yet taken any decision regarding alliances or joint programmes,” Ariful Islam Adeeb, senior joint convenor

The National Citizen Party (NCP) has dismissed reports claiming it has joined an eight-party simultaneous movement on four demands, calling such news "misleading."
In a statement today (13 September), Ariful Islam Adeeb, senior joint convenor and head of political liaison committee of the NCP, said, "The party has not yet taken any decision regarding alliances or joint programmes."
He clarified that while the NCP had informal discussions with other political parties on the July Charter's legal basis and the demand for a new constitution through a Constituent Assembly election, the party has no position on a fully proportional representation (PR) system.
"Instead, the NCP only supports PR for the Upper House," he added.
Adib further stated that the NCP will support the demand to suspend the organisational activities of the Jatiyo Party, which it accuses of being an ally of "terrorism and fascism."
